Enamel tableware for children: could the idea take off? It certainly could. For the one-woman show YIV (Your Ideal Vintage), delivering sustainability is more than just lip service. That’s why she chose to team up with Planzer Parcel.

A family enterprise with heart

Parents rarely trust their children with beautiful tableware because their little darlings tend to delight in hurling plates, bowls and cups at the floor.

That’s why so many of them end up buying plastic tableware. While it may be shatterproof, it can, in fact, shed plasticisers and plastic particles that are then ingested along with the food. This is not just harmful to the youngsters but to the planet as well –

and that’s precisely what YIV is looking to prevent.

The woman behind it

Melanie Kohler, a mother who lives with her family in Chur, is the founder of YIV. The enamelware she designs for children is recyclable and made from 100% natural materials. The aim of longevity isn’t just limited to the products themselves; YIV children’s tableware is handmade by the family-run company Riess in Austria, which operates a sustainable, carbon-neutral production system. Reducing the workload

In the past, Melanie Kohler had to handwrite a shipping label for each individual parcel and then take it to the local post office by bike. As the volume of orders grew, however, she began to find this laborious and time-consuming. In June 2022, the entrepreneur began shipping her parcels via Planzer, using the Plug & Planzer Parcel plugin. Her online shop system, PepperShop, takes care of all communication with us, the logistics company.

Now all she has to do is print the shipping label and stick it on the parcel. Our parcel specialists collect the order from her and deliver it the very next day to the YIV customer’s door.

From order to delivery

YIV’s supply chain may not be complex, but its intelligent organisation ensures that it delivers maximum efficiency. For Melanie Kohler, the result is half the work and twice as much time for her business. The individual stages of the process are as follows:

Orders are placed in the online shop

YIV fans order their favourite products at yiv.ch. Planzer Parcel is already named there as the parcel delivery service.

Order is prepared for shipping

In the customer management section, Melanie Kohler sees that an order has been placed at yiv.ch. PepperShop automatically creates a shipping label in the form of a QR code. Melanie Kohler can now pack the parcel using the picking order and set the order status to ‘shipped’ in the customer management section. When she does this, a shipping confirmation email is then sent to the customer. At the same time, PepperShop notifies Planzer Parcel that the order is ready for collection.

Planzer Parcel collects the orders from YIV

All parcels that PepperShop notifies Planzer Parcel of before 11 am are collected by the parcel service the same day. Melanie Kohler comments, ‘Planzer adapted flexibly to my needs in terms of the pickup time and location.’

Parcel arrives the next day

The next day, the YIV products the customer ordered are delivered to their door – with a smile.
